Area Attractions

Wondering what to do in Fog City? Here are a few suggestions that may steer your SF plans in the right direction...

Day trip numero uno: Pier 39, Ghiradelli Square Wine Tasting
It's best to face the hustle and bustle of Pier 39 early in the morning before the crowds hit.

Located smack dab in the center of historic Ghiradelli Square, Cellar 360 and Wattle Creek tasting rooms are a perfect way to kickoff your afternoon. These wineries are clients of ours at Call for Wine, so it wouldn't hurt to mention that we sent you... ;-) Their wines AND their views of the bay are sweet!

WHAT TO EAT:
Grab lunch by heading down to the shoreline adjacent to Ghiradelli Square and order some fresh seafood from the street vendors here (clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl?!? Mmmm... Can't beat that! It's a San Francisco Classic!).

From there, you can catch the cable car to China Town and snake around the cramped streets. For dinner, start out for a mojito or margarita with the mad Mexican cuisine they serve up at Mamacita in the Marina and then head back to North Beach for dessert.

Day trip numero dos: Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge and Sausolito
You can't come to the San Francisco Bay Area and NOT appreciate the bay itself. One great and affordable way to do this would be to park your car (for a price mind you...) and walk the Golden Gate Bridge.

Sunday morning is a great time to check out Golden Gate Park as many of it's streets are shut off to drivers and you are free to stroll or roll the length of the park. Be sure to check out the Conservatory of Flowers, the De Young Museum (King Tut's tomb is here right now), the Botanical Gardens and the Dutch Windmill.

WHAT TO EAT:

When you hit the shore, the Cliff House is the hoi palloi place to dine as you watch the waves roll in from the Pacific Ocean. If you're in the mood for something a little more low key, check out Java Beach Cafe. This spot showcases the super chill surfer vibe that's synonymous with Cali.

If you're hoping to relax instead of rushing from one tourist attraction to the next, the Blue and Gold Fleet ferry to Sausolito is a perfect way to kick back and enjoy the Bay sans the run around. This ferry gives you an incredible view of the city skyline and drops you at the front door of the artsy-fartsy charming city center of downtown Sausolito. You really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants walking distance from here, but if you come across a place that's iffy, give us a ring and we can yelp it for you... ;-)
